These two are the kind of people who make you feel like family the minute you meet them.
Their love story began, without their knowledge, in 2015. Aaron was a freshman beginning his college football career and Tori was fresh into the workforce as his new athletic trainer.
What began as an innocent friendship, bantering about what Aaron learned in his morning bible classes, while repairing injuries that may or may not have all been legitimate, slowly grew into a connection that eventually neither of them could deny. They still argue about when we actually started dating; it was so organic it just kind of happened. All that they can agree upon is that 6 years and many healed injuries later, that God was working their biggest blessing.
They are both active, love kayaking adventures, and work in athletics. Aaron even proposed on a hike! Their wedding day was a culmination of two beautiful families joining together through their love and God’s power.
I really feel blessed to shoot weddings. Often, I get to witness such beautiful and powerful moments with couples. But this wedding, something spectacular happened:
During the ceremony, the officiant commended the bride and groom’s faithful relationship and talked about Godly marriages. There was barely a breeze all day, and no air movement during the ceremony (this is important to note).
But as soon as they shared their first kiss, there was a huge gust of wind which only lasted for that moment.
It was like the Holy Spirit was blessing their union (see the photo of the wind picking up her veil?). We got chills and EVERYONE noticed.
Btw, other names for the Holy Spirit are “breath of God,” “whisper,” and “wind.” You can tell God has been waiting for Tori + Aaron’s marriage for a long time . Such an amazing God moment to witness. I’ll never forget it, and I don’t think the guests will either! It was crazy talking about it with the guests after. It was so clear and just wow!!!
There were other incredible moments too, like the bridesmaids first look (which I HIGHLY recommend for any brides planning their wedding!) and their first look. Tori also greeted her grandma before the ceremony and more tears were shed. From the ceremony (not a dry eye in the place, including my own) to the speeches, there were soooo many beautiful moments.
Then, the party got started! and it was poppin’.
This rum cake… LEMME TELL YOU BOUT THIS RUM CAKE!!! If you don’t know what a rum cake it, it’s a Caribbean cake that is made (usually chocolate and fruit flavored) with rum! The cake is usually really moist, or in this case, soaked, in rum! Their family friend has been fermenting fruit for their wedding rum cake for over a year! So when they said it was really strong… it’ll practically get you drunk off one piece! It took a year to prepare the fruit, and over 10 hours of bake time. So wild!
Their rum cake was also decked out with frosting in the likeness of the Trinidad flag to celebrate the groom’s heritage. The cake was such a special labor of love!
After people were properly tipsy off this cake, the party continued with booty-shaking moves and conga lines. It was such a fun evening!!!
