Maybe you remember Korissa and Ryan from this epic sand dunes engagement session. Well, after that crazy engagement session, we decided to do a second engagement session— this time, without the wind storm!!!

We ended up getting the best of both worlds and two completely different vibes that show off the diversity of things they love to experience together. And since we couldn’t bring out their baby, Porter, into the sandstorm, we really wanted to make sure we got some cute photos with him this time. He was the most well-behaved baby ever.

Since Ryan is part of a sailing club and knows how to sail, we did their session out on the water of San Diego bay! It was so unique and something I wish I could photograph more of! Even though it was a sailboat, we just used the engine to get us out there so we could spend the maximum amount of time enjoying ourselves and have some mobility and flexibility with where we turned the boat.

The weather and conditions couldn’t have been better. There was a slight cool breeze and the warmth of a golden hour sun kept us at a perfect temperature. We were one of the only boats out on the water too, so we really had the place to ourselves. I keep saying how wild it was that we live in a city that has such pleasant pleasure-cruise conditions in literally late November!

With the sun giving a gorgeous glow over Coronado island, we captured their cute family and their couples photos in front of the San Diego city skyline, Coronado bridge, and the iconic San Diego Naval base. We had such a fun time. It honestly felt like a vacation being out on the water — listening to some music, having good conversation, and enjoying the views and gentle sail of the boat.

At the end of their session, Korissa says to me “we brought another outfit so we can jump into the water.” I was like HECK YESSSS! I’m always down for some epic water shots & these kinds of adventurous people! And the fact they were willing to jump into the water in winter was low-key crazy, but I’m so here for it. They said the water wasn’t too bad either! Surprisingly, Korissa’s makeup still looked perfect when they got out too! After changing back into some warm clothes, we headed back to shore. It was the perfect evening 🙂
