As soon as I arrived in Santa Barbara, all my stresses melted away.
Located north of LA, SB is becoming the “new Malibu” destination for elopements, vacationers, and celebrity homes. Its Spanish Colonial architecture can’t be mistaken. This small city is full of character and charm. I’m a big fan of the white plaster walls and red tiled rooftops backdropped by a blue Pacific ocean.
Melissa + Jordan also have a love for the city’s warm and chic feel, so they decided to marry in the heart of it. They are both avid travelers, so it made sense for them to do a destination wedding here! Fun fact: Jordan proposed to Missy on a boat in Amsterdam!
The Wedding Day:
The Hotel Californian is a stylish and modern art deco hotel situated in downtown Santa Barbara on State street. It’s only a minute walk to the beach and pier, so it’s the perfect place for a wedding, honeymoon, or vacation.
I started the morning off with some detail shots of her gorgeous invite suite and dress as she was finishing up her hair/makeup touches. Then, we took some photos on the rooftop above their hotel room and around the hotel.
Their sophisticated Catholic wedding ceremony was held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church. It was a beautiful and cultural ceremony, with a mariachi band playing! It was elegant, vibrant, and classy.
After the ceremony, we went back to the hotel and up to the Serena rooftop. It overlooked the downtown beach hustle & bustle, the mountains, and the water. The view was breathtaking and the evening cooled to a comfortable temperature.
Let’s talk about these details! Their coordinator/florist did the best job I’ve ever seen on the reception decor. It looked straight out of a magazine. The florals were immaculate and so lush. Every part of this day was absolutely stunning!
The rest of the night felt like a classy and stylish cocktail party. With emotional speeches, great drinks, and a poppin’ dance floor, this wedding ended on the highest note. These photos make me so happy because I feel like I’m re-living the day! I can’t wait to go back!
